Some suggestions have been made regarding the Calendar portion of this site. 

I have recently implemented many of the suggestions... which include the following:
1. detail page for each venue.  (clicking on the icon next to the venue name will display it).
2. on each detail page - karaoke/trivia days specific for that venue, including date stamps next to each event.
3. a review system, which now integrates the rating system...  a visitor can just rate their favorite (or least favorite) place - or they can include additional reviews on their rating.

Those are the highlights, of course, there are a few enhancements behind the scenes that the typical user does not see.
